Custom website or a template: which does your business need?

Most sites in Georgia are built on templates: a WordPress theme or a Wix design filled in with your text. A custom site is designed for your customers and written in code from the start. Both have a place. Here is how they differ in price, speed, security and what the site can do, and why we build custom.

What a template site is

A template is a ready design that thousands of other sites also use. You change the colours, the logo and the text. It is quick and cheap, and for a simple page it may be all you need.

The limits show later: the site looks like many others, plugins slow it down, and every change the template did not plan for becomes a workaround.

What a custom site is

A custom site starts from your customers: who they are, what they need to see, and what you want them to do. The design and the code are made for that, so nothing is on the page just because the template had it.

We build custom sites in Next.js, the framework behind many of the largest websites in the world. Pages are prepared in advance, so they open fast even on mobile data.

Speed and Google

Speed is not only comfort. Google measures how fast pages load on phones and uses it in ranking, and visitors leave a slow page before it finishes loading.

A template site carries code for every feature the theme offers, used or not. A custom site loads only what the page needs.

Security and upkeep

Most hacked small business sites in the world are WordPress sites with an outdated plugin or theme, partly because WordPress is so common. Keeping every plugin updated is a job someone has to do every month.

A custom Next.js site has no plugins to patch, so there is far less to attack.

What a custom site can do

Things a template cannot do well: an interactive elevator you can “ride” on westlift.ge, a symptom check on khozrevanidze.ge that leads to the right doctor. Animation, 3D and tools like these make a business remembered.

They also do a job: a customer who has built a kit or answered three questions is already halfway to buying.

Which one to choose

Choose a template if you need one simple page quickly, have very little budget, and expect to replace it soon.

Choose a custom site if the website brings you customers, if you want to stand out from competitors using the same theme, or if it has to take bookings or payments or connect to your systems. At SureIT a custom business website starts at 2,000 ₾, and a one page site at 900 ₾.
